Baku – Sheki – Telavi – Tbilisi

This Caucasus culture tour is specially designed to highlight the way from Baku, Azerbaijan to Tbilisi, Georgia through the rolling hills and lush valleys, the beautiful and scenic mountains of Caucasus, the lakes and the ancient architectural monuments and the fascinating villages. A truly fascinating tour of these two Caucasus countries those are very famous for its hospitality.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival Baku
After meeting and greeting at Baku airport you will be transferred to hotel and check in – we would go for Baku sightseeing tour (subject to arrival time – there are many sites to visit and we would try as many possible). Overnight stay in hotel at Baku.

Day 2: Baku – Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku
After breakfast we will go for full day excursion to Absheron Peninsula and Gobustan. We will visit Gobustan National Park, Petroglyphs Museum (petroglyphs of 10,000 BC) and then Continue to the mud volcanoes in Gobustan Reserve. Afterwards we will drive to Ateshgah – temple of fire worshippers in Surakhany village. Zoroastrians of India used to travel to worship fire coming out of the earth. Also drive to Yanardag Mountain to witness natural gas burning since thousands of years. Overnight stay in hotel at Baku.

Day 3: Baku – Lahij – Kish – Sheki
Today we will depart for Sheki, en route visit Diri Baba Mausoleum at Maraza, historical Juma Mosque at Shemakha, Yeddi Gumbez Mausoleum, and the Shirvan Shah’s family grave yard. We will continue to Lahij (ancient village, 5 AC) famous for its medieval water supply and sewerage systems, also famous for traditional jewelry, carpets, copperware, pottery, iron tools, and daggers etc. At Kish we will visit the first Albanian church in Caucasus region (1st AD). Overnight stay in hotel at Sheki.

Day 4: Sheki – Kvareli – Gremi – Telavi
First of all we will visit Shekhi Medieval Fortress, Shekhi Khan Palace and then continue for Telavi (cross of Georgia border). Here in Georgia we will en route stop at Winery Khareba located in the tunnel originally built for military purposes but now being used to store Kakheti’s finest wines – opportunity to taste wine. Afterwards we continue to Gremi architectural complex, 16th century royal residence and the capital of Kakheti Kingdom and then we reach Telavi, the capital of Kakheti region. Overnight stay in hotel at Telavi.

Day 5: Telavi – Tsinandali – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi
Today we will depart for Tbilisi, en route visit Tsinandali, residence of dukes of Georgia, with beautiful layout of English garden, museum, and wine cellar of prince Chavchavadze, a famous figure and poet of 19th century. Later on we will continue to Bodbe Convent and Sighnaghi Royal Town (the crossroads of the Great Silk Road surrounded by defensive walls with 23 towers. Overnight stay in hotel at Tbilisi.

Day 6: Tbilisi
After breakfast we will go for city sightseeing tour of Tbilisi by visiting Trinity Cathedral (the second Millennium), Metekhi Church (XIII century), Old Tbilisi, Sulphur Baths, Narikala Fortress (V-IV centuries), Sioni (XIII c.) and Anchiskhati churches (VI century). Also walk on Shardeni and Leselidze streets and Rustaveli Avenue to touch the life spirit of Georgia. Overnight stay in hotel at Tbilisi.

Day 7: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi
Today we will go for full day excursion to visit Mtskheta (cultural center of Georgia), one of the oldest towns and the cultural and religious centre of Georgia, also visit Jvari Church and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral which may be translated as “The Life-giving pillar” (a sacred place where the robe of Christ is being kept). Afterwards we will continue to Gori to visit the Stalin Museum and also visit the cave town Uplistsikhe dating back to Hellenistic Period (a symbol of Christian architect). Overnight stay in hotel at Tbilisi.

Day 08: Tbilisi – Flight Out
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tbilisi airport for flight back home or vice versa. End of Panoramic Azerbaijan and Georgia Tour and end of our tourism services.
